We have always watched for horses with a natural stop. With the proper training methods you can teach a horse many things. However, unless that horse has the conformation and ability to really get his legs up under him, he'll never be a top performer in the cowhorse or reining events. Harlan, a 1951 buckskin stallion, produced 17 AQHA Champions and his offspring earned 2996 AQHA performance points. Harlan was an outstanding calf roping horse for his

owners, Bob and Joan Robey, and sired AQHA Superior Cutting horses, calf and team roping horses, and PRCA barrel racing and roping horses. In fact, Harlan is in the pedigrees of many of today's performers. Western Horseman's Legends 4 provides an interesting summary of the accomplishments of this foundation Quarter Horse sire and his descendants.

Harlans Bobbi Jo, a 1998 buckskin mare (shown - right), is the first AQHA performer from our breeding program. In about seven months of showing, she earned over 340 points in Jr. Heading, Heeling and Calf Roping, and has an AQHA Superior in all three events. She was Third in Jr. Heading at the AQHA World Show. In year-end point standings, she was second in Jr. Heading, and was third in Jr. Heeling and Calf Roping.

Harlan Tony, a 1999 buckskin stallion and a full brother to Harlans Bobbi Jo, is standing here at the ranch. This is our first year of foals by Tony and we are very excited. He is a world-class individual and appears to be a true breeding stallion. Young Bert Harlan stands at Perkins, Oklahoma, with our partner, Bob Robey. Either stallion would be a good choice for your mare if you want an attractive performance prospect.
